Bays gone faint under a winter of traffic, or a freshly sealed car park with nothing on it yet: both jobs start with someone on site holding a tape measure. Group One New Zealand runs its line marking from a base on Foremans Road in Islington, so a Christchurch site is a drive across town rather than a trip in from out of the region. Sydney Chappell founded the New Zealand company in 2026, and the same crews cover the wider region, from Amberley in the north to Timaru in the south. Tell us the address and roughly how many bays or square metres you are dealing with, and we will come out and take a look.
Whether it is an office car park, a warehouse floor, a school or a court, the work falls into a short list:
Our service includes the design and implementation of walkthrough lanes, forklift paths, and specific zones for storage, which help in minimising work-related accidents and improving logistical operations.
Plenty of it is first-time layouts rather than re-marks. Canterbury added business locations at 2.4% in the year to August 2025, the highest rate in the country, and the rebuilt central city is now mostly new apartments and townhouses, each arriving with a car park that has never been set out.

Pricing is on quote. Nobody can put a sensible number on a car park before walking it, so the quote comes together from what the site visit turns up:
Access moves the number more than people expect. A car park we can have to ourselves on a quiet weekday is a different job from one marked in sections around trading hours.
We work in three stages: design, manufacture and installation.
Design starts on your site. We measure the area, note the surface and the falls, and draw a layout that fits the vehicles and foot traffic you actually have, not a generic grid. Manufacture covers the stencils, numbering and custom markings prepared for that layout. Installation is the day itself: surface preparation, removing or covering the old lines, then application. The crew tells you on the day how long to keep vehicles off while it cures, because that shifts with the paint, the surface and the weather.
Christchurch records around 37 screen frosts and 90 ground frosts a year, chiefly between April and October. A frosted or still-damp slab is no surface to lay paint on, and cold concrete holds moisture long after the air feels dry. Winter work still happens. It moves later into the day, once the surface has come up, and we will say so if a booked morning would give you a finish you would not accept.
The nor’wester is the other one to plan around. It comes across the plains warm, dry and gusty, and can send the city above 30°C. Wind turns a clean edge into overspray and skins paint before it has settled, so on a nor’west day we either shelter the work or shift it. Hence the access window rather than a fixed hour.
If forklifts and people share a floor, or delivery vehicles reverse across a customer path, the markings are part of how you meet your health and safety duties as a workplace. Walkways, hazard zones and traffic routes are among the cheapest controls you can put on a site.
Markings in the road corridor, on a public street or across a vehicle crossing sit with Christchurch City Council, so check with the council before the layout is fixed and we will mark to what they allow. Inside your own boundary, the layout is yours to decide.

Foremans Road in Islington is where the trucks are loaded and the layouts are drawn up, which makes a job in this city the shortest trip we make. Sydney Chappell founded Group One New Zealand in 2026, we are a small team, so you know you’ll get the very best, and we work with the most current line marking tools and equipment plus environmentally safe products. In the company’s own words: “Although Group 1 Line Marking has just started here in New Zealand, as a group we have been operating in Australia for almost 25 years.” Full credentials sit on our page.
Most car parks can be measured, quoted and marked without shutting the place down. Tell us when the bays are emptiest and we will work to that.

Yes. Removal and surface preparation are part of installation, and both are priced once we have seen how the old paint has worn.
The crew gives you a time on the day. A June afternoon behaves differently from a February one.
Yes. Dimensions and placement are what make them usable, so we set them out at the design stage with the rest of the layout.
It is quoted per site. Area, surface condition, prep, layout complexity and access all move the figure, which is why the visit comes before the number.
