Why we watch the frost before booking the day
Ashburton gets warm summers and rainfall spread fairly evenly through the year, so there is no single wet season to plan around. Winter is the constraint. Southerlies bring hard frosts to the plains, and forecasts through the district run to widespread frosts turning severe across the basins and interior.
A frosted slab is not a surface to paint, and it does not come right the moment the sun hits it. Concrete and seal hold moisture well after the air feels dry. In winter we shift the working window later into the day and check the surface before anything comes out of the truck. The other one to plan around is the north-westerly, the region’s strongest wind, which lifts overspray and skins paint before it settles. Both are reasons we book a day and a window rather than an hour.
How a job is put together

Design begins with a measure-up on your site. We record the area, the falls and the surface, then set out a layout around the largest vehicle that has to turn in there and the route people walk to the office door. Manufacture covers the stencils, numbering and custom markings for your layout. Installation is preparation, then removal or covering of old lines, then application. The crew tells you on the day how long to keep vehicles and foot traffic off, because the cure window moves with the surface, the product and the weather.
Safety zoning on a working site
Where forklifts and people share a floor, or a truck reverses across a path staff use, the markings are part of how the site meets its health and safety duties. Walkthrough lanes, forklift paths and defined storage zones are among the cheapest controls a workplace can install, and they help in minimising work-related accidents while making the site easier to run.
